OUR STORYWine and a Piano
At Wohnen there are things we inherited from my father, and something that has come back after a long sleep.
The wine cellar we inherited from my father
Beneath the hotel is a wine cellar handed down from my father, who ran the hotel before me. It holds more than 1,000 bottles, and many still rest in their wooden cases.
Spend the day playing hard in Hakuba's mountains, then come back for a quiet evening. That is the kind of night we want Wohnen to be for.

Bösendorfer "Johann Strauss II" model
The grand piano in our lounge is a Bösendorfer "Johann Strauss II" model, from the Viennese piano maker. It is named after the piano used by Johann Strauss II, composer of "The Blue Danube", which is still kept at a memorial in Vienna.
The piano had been carefully stored for many years, and in 2026 it came back to Wohnen. A Bösendorfer specialist tuner has checked every detail and adjusted each string.
Having just woken from its long sleep, the piano will slowly regain its true voice. We look forward to hearing its sound grow along with the time spent here.
